Overview
SportsManager — Team is a full-featured iOS team management app for baseball, softball, and hockey coaches. It covers everything from Opening Day to the championship: rosters, schedules, lineups, pitch counts, finances, volunteers, tournaments, carpool, and a suite of AI-powered coaching tools.
The app is organized into five main tabs: Home (game day hub and follow-up queue), Schedule (events, games, and practices), Roster (players, stats, and scouting), Finances (transactions and accounts), and More (tournaments, volunteers, documents, and settings).

- All team data is stored locally on your device — not synced to a shared server.

Getting Started
Step 1 — Install and open the app
- Download SportsManager — Team from the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Open the app and follow the onboarding prompts to set up your first team.
Step 2 — Create your team
- Enter your team name, sport (baseball, softball, or hockey), and season year.
- You can manage multiple teams with Team Pass or SportsManager Pro.
- Each team has its own roster, schedule, finances, and settings.
Step 3 — Add players to your roster
- Go to the Roster tab and tap the + button to add players.
- Enter jersey number, name, position, and optional guardian contact info.
- Player and guardian information is stored locally on your device only.
- You can import scoresheets using the document scanner (camera required) to quickly populate stats.
Step 4 — Add your schedule
- Go to the Schedule tab and tap + to add games, practices, or other events.
- You can also import a calendar feed (.ics format) to pull in a full schedule at once.
- Enable weather forecasts for each game location — the app uses WeatherKit and requires location access for this feature.
Features
Lineups & Pitch Counts
- Build batting orders and fielding lineups for each game from your roster.
- Drag and drop players to set positions and batting slots.
- Track pitch counts per player with configurable per-game and per-period limits.
- Pitching appearances log automatically as you record them during a game.
- The AI Lineup Builder (Pro) can suggest an optimized batting order based on your roster — all player names are replaced with placeholders before any data is sent to the AI service.
Schedule & Events
- Add games, practices, tournaments, and other team events with location, time, and notes.
- Import .ics calendar feeds to populate your full season schedule at once.
- Weather forecasts appear for each event using your device location and Apple WeatherKit.
- The AI Practice Planner (Pro) generates a customized practice plan based on your team's age, skill level, and focus areas.
Roster & Scouting
- Full player profiles with jersey number, position, contact details, and scouting notes.
- Track season stats and individual game stats per player.
- Add scouting notes and observations for your own players or opponents.
- Import scoresheets by scanning a printed box score with your device camera (VisionKit document scanner).
Finances
- Track team income and expenses across multiple accounts (e.g., registration fees, equipment, field rentals).
- Log individual transactions with category, amount, date, and notes.
- View a running balance and summary for the season.
- All financial data is stored locally on your device.
Volunteers
- Create volunteer duties (e.g., snack duty, scorebook, field setup) for each event.
- Generate a shareable volunteer claim link (Pro) — parents tap the link to claim a duty without needing an account.
- Volunteer claim links are processed through a Rocky River Software server and are verified using Apple's App Attest framework to prevent abuse.
- Use the rotation generator to automatically distribute duties across your roster.
Tournaments & Carpool
- Add tournaments with bracket tracking, schedules, and pool play.
- Use the AI tournament search (Pro) to find upcoming tournaments — searches use Perplexity Sonar AI with all team identifiers redacted.
- The Bracket Predictor (Pro) estimates tournament outcomes based on your team's record.
- Coordinate carpool for away games and tournaments directly in the app.
- Food budget calculator helps estimate concession spending for tournament weekends.
Documents
- Store waivers, permission slips, registration forms, and other team documents in the Docs Vault.
- Scan paper documents with your device camera using the built-in document scanner.
- Documents are stored locally on your device.
AI Coaching Tools (Pro)
All AI features are included in the Pro subscription. Before any data is sent to an AI service, a privacy redaction layer replaces all real player names, guardian names, email addresses, phone numbers, and team names with generic placeholders. Your actual roster data is never transmitted to an external AI service.
AI Lineup Builder
Generates an optimized batting order suggestion based on your roster positions and history.
AI Practice Planner
Creates a structured practice plan customized to your team's age group, skill level, and focus areas.
AI Game Summary
Drafts a shareable game recap using your score, stats, and notes — with all identifying info redacted before drafting.
AI Tournament Search
Searches for upcoming tournaments in your area using Perplexity Sonar. No team data is included in the search.
Bracket Predictor
Estimates how your team may perform in an upcoming tournament based on your season record.
Smart Follow-Up Drafts
Drafts follow-up messages (e.g., post-game emails, schedule reminders) for your review — all PII is redacted before generation.
Voice Stat Logging
- Log game stats hands-free by speaking — for example, "strikeout, Johnson, pitch count 12."
- Requires microphone and speech recognition permission on your device.
- Speech recognition is processed on-device or through Apple's speech framework — no audio is sent to Rocky River Software servers.
App Permissions
SportsManager — Team requests the following permissions from your device. Each permission is optional unless noted, but disabling it will limit the related feature.
Location
Used to show weather forecasts for your game location using Apple WeatherKit. Location is not stored or transmitted to Rocky River Software.
Microphone
Used for hands-free voice stat logging. Audio is processed on-device and is not recorded or transmitted.
Speech Recognition
Used to convert voice commands into stat entries. Processed through Apple's speech framework.
Camera
Used to scan paper documents and box scores with the VisionKit document scanner. Camera images are processed on-device only.
Photo Library
Used to select images from your library for player profiles or documents. Photos are not transmitted off your device.

SportsManager — Team is free to download and use with limited features. Upgrade options are managed through Apple's App Store: SportsManager Pro is available annually for $24.99 per year or monthly for $2.99 per month, and Team Pass is the one-time option if multiple teams is all you need.

Choose the right option: Pro includes multi-team support plus all AI and manager workflow tools. Team Pass is the one-time option if multiple teams is all you need.
Managing your subscription: Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. To cancel or manage your subscription, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Troubleshooting
Weather isn't showing for my games
Make sure Location access is enabled for SportsManager — Team in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Weather requires a location to be set on the event and an active internet connection.
Voice stat logging isn't working
Check that Microphone and Speech Recognition are both enabled for SportsManager — Team in Settings > Privacy & Security. Also make sure you're in a reasonably quiet environment for best recognition accuracy.
Document scanner isn't opening
Camera access must be granted for document scanning to work. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and make sure SportsManager — Team is enabled.
AI tools aren't available
AI coaching tools require an active Pro subscription. If you have Pro but still see a paywall, try restoring purchases in Settings > Subscription > Restore Purchases within the app.
Volunteer claim links aren't working
Volunteer claim links require an active internet connection and a Pro subscription. If a link isn't loading, check the volunteer's connection. Each claim link can only be claimed once.
App is slow or unresponsive
Force-quit SportsManager — Team and reopen it. If the issue persists, restart your device. For recurring slowness, contact support with your device model and iOS version.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which sports are supported?
Baseball, softball, and hockey. Features like pitch count tracking and batting order tools are sport-specific and adjust automatically based on your team's selected sport.
Is my team's data backed up?
Team data is stored locally on your device. The app deliberately excludes data files from iCloud backup to protect sensitive player and guardian information. We recommend regularly exporting a backup from within the app and storing it in a safe location.
Does the app share player data with third parties?
No. Roster names, guardian contacts, phone numbers, and email addresses are stored only on your device. When AI features are used, a privacy redaction layer automatically replaces all identifying information with generic placeholders before any request leaves your device.
Can I manage multiple teams?
Yes, with Team Pass or SportsManager Pro. The free download supports limited features for one team.
Is there an Android version?
No. SportsManager — Team is an iOS app for iPhone and iPad only. There are no current plans for an Android version.
How does Pro billing work?
SportsManager Pro is available as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple's App Store: $24.99 per year for the annual plan or $2.99 per month for the monthly plan. You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscription settings.
